How does our pricing work?

Every job has two parts: the service call, which covers coming to you, and the work itself. Because the $39 service call gets credited toward the job, you're not paying extra just for the drive when we do the work.

The prices in the table are from prices, meaning the lowest realistic starting point, not a teaser. When you call, we ask a few questions, add it up, and give you the whole number. You decide before anyone is on the road. If the number doesn't work for you, say no thanks and hang up. Asking costs nothing.

What affects the final price?

Mostly three things. The first is hardware. A basic keyed knob and a high-security commercial cylinder are different animals, and lock grade moves the price more than anything else.

The second is the key itself. A plain metal car key just gets cut. A transponder key or a fob also has to be programmed to your car, and that's where the range widens.

The third is the clock. A 3 a.m. lockout costs somewhat more than a 3 p.m. one, but we keep after-hours pricing fair, because we'd rather be the number you save than the story you tell. Whatever the factors add up to, you hear the total on the phone before we dispatch. That part never changes.

What's the deal with those $19 locksmith ads?

You've probably seen them: ads promising a $19 or $29 locksmith, any job, any time. Here's how that usually goes. The $19 covers showing up. Once someone is standing at your door, the price climbs, often after your lock has already been drilled, because drilling is faster than picking and it conveniently sells you a new lock. It's a lead-generation operation, not a local business, and the person who arrives may be subcontracted from hours away.

We don't play that game. You get the real price before dispatch, and we pick before we drill. The receipt itemizes everything so you can see where every dollar went.
