About KeyPoint Locksmith

KeyPoint Locksmith is a mobile locksmith shop based in Chadwicks, and we answer the phone 24 hours a day, year-round. If you're locked out anywhere from Utica down through the Sauquoit Valley, we can usually be there in 20 to 40 minutes. Call (916) 969-8748 and you'll hear your exact price before a van ever moves.

Why does Chadwicks matter?

Most locksmiths around here work out of Utica or New Hartford. We're based at 3480 Oneida St in Chadwicks, right on NY-8, about eight road miles south of downtown Utica. We're the only locksmith based south of New Hartford, and that's not a small thing when you're standing in a cold parking lot waiting on a van.

It means Sauquoit, Clayville, Washington Mills, and the rest of the southern valley get arrival times the bigger towns take for granted. And since Oneida St runs straight up toward Utica, the northern half of our service area isn't far either.

The other difference is hours. Most local shops answer weekdays, roughly nine to five. Lockouts don't keep that schedule, so neither do we. Nights and weekends, the phone gets answered. Holidays too.

How do we work?

Same habits on every job. You get the full price before we dispatch, based on what you tell us on the phone. Not an estimate that grows in the driveway. Once we're there, we try non-destructive methods first, picking and bypassing before any drilling, and if drilling ever becomes the only option, we tell you before it happens. At the end you get an itemized receipt showing exactly what you paid for.

People sometimes ask about licensing. Here's the straight answer: New York State does not license locksmiths, so a state locksmith license isn't a thing anyone around here can actually hold. What you can hold us to is simpler. An exact quote before any work starts, and the pick before the drill. The itemized receipt at the end doesn't hurt either.

What's in the van?

We're fully mobile, so the van is the shop. It carries a key cutting machine, programming equipment for transponder keys and fobs, pick and bypass tools, rekeying pins, a stock of common residential and commercial locks, and safe-opening gear. For most jobs, one trip is all it takes.

If your situation calls for a part we don't stock, we'll say so up front and get it right on a second visit instead of improvising something you'll regret in a year.

Why this trade, in this place?

This corner of Oneida County is honest about its winters. Lake-effect snow, hard freezes, car locks iced shut at 6 a.m., brittle keys snapping off in front doors all through January. Weather like that makes a locksmith who actually picks up at midnight worth knowing about before you need one.

So save the number: (916) 969-8748. If you never use it, good. If you do, you'll be glad the van is coming from Chadwicks and not from a call center two counties away.
